Ralph reply - Suicide Help 44

I wrote a mail to Ralph yesterday and i got this reply...
Thanks a lot Ralph..

I can tell you what I tell people who tell me they are thinking of committing suicide and you can share that with her.

I have never seen a suicide that was worthwhile. Never have I seen someone who was better off dead. I have been in that situation so I understand a lot of what goes through people's minds. They want rest and peace, they want the pain and suffering to stop. They don't feel that life has anything to offer and death seems to be peaceful and at the very least painless after the initial dying.

The problem is those are lies. What happens after a person dies? Very simple, they wake up and are the very same person they were while they were alive. They have the same personality, the same likes and the same dislikes. They have the same memories and the same cares. If the pain they were trying to escape from was emotional, then they will still have it.

On top of that are the things that death itself brings. For example; they would wonder who found their body, what did the person think about it? What did their family and friends think? Did anyone feel guilty because they killed themselves, did anyone get mad at them for acting selfishly? Is that what people thought, that they were selfish? What if they had not killed them self, would their life have changed in the future? Would they have found someone to love them just the way they were? Thousands of questions and not one answer.

This begs the question what is life all about? Is life about living a happy existence for 70 or 80 years and then just ceasing to exist? No. Life is about one thing and one thing only. That is having a relationship with our Creator. He created us for His pleasure and for ours. He wants to show us love and compassion, but He did and does not want robots or slaves. He wants us to love Him for who He is not because we have to. We don't have to, we have the choice to reject Him and even to take our own lives. People will say that He does not really give us a choice because if we choose not to follow Him we will end up in hell, but they are only half right. It is a true choice. Hell is being totally separated from God's love, which is what the person who rejects God is doing. It is still being the same person but without the hope of anything better.

Many people question how a loving God could allow people to choose to reject Him and then spend eternity in hell. What is the option? Make us slaves? The human spirit does not take being a slave well. People would rather die than be a slave, so why would God force us all to be slaves? That is not what people really want. What they want is to not have to answer to anyone for anything, or in other words have no consequences for their actions. That brings us back to why God allows evil to continue. He hates it. So why does He allow evil things to happen?

The answer to that is the answer to life. See God loves us, but He is holy and can't stand sin. His holy and just nature demands punishment for all sin. Murder, rape, abuse, but not just them, also for lying, cheating, hatred, etc... The only punishment for those sins is to be separated from God, or in other words spiritual death, which is what being separated from Him is. We have all sinned and we all deserve to die spiritually. (Ezekiel 18:4 NIV) For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.

We are not born pure and clean and then are ruined by our environment, we are all born with the tendency to do evil. It is in our hearts, passed down by our parents and their parents. You don't have to teach a child to be selfish, or to lie, or to cheat, it comes natural, what you have to teach them is not to do those things.

So that bring us to the point where we all deserve death (separation from God). He loves us but His holy and just nature can't over look our sins, payment has to be made for our sins. This again is why He allows evil to continue in this world, because if He were to stop it totally today, that means He would have to punish all those who have done evil and that includes all of us.

God can't just forgive and forget our sins, they must be paid for, but yet He loves us. That is the reason that Jesus Christ came to this earth as a human being. You might not understand the Trinity, but what it is will explain a lot. God is one being but has three persons, the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. When the Bible says we are made in the image of God, that is what it means. We are triune beings too. Take yourself for example. There is you, the physical body, there is you, the mind or personality and there is you the spirit or soul. You are one person but yet you are still three. The body is not all of you. People might think they know you because they know what you look like, but until they get to know your personality they don't really know you. I hope you see my point.

Anyway, so God is a triune being. One of those persons (Jesus Christ) came to earth and was born as a human being. He took on human status, so that He could pay for our sins. See I can't pay for your sins and you can't pay for mine, because we both have our own to worry about. It took someone who was sinless to pay for our sins. There was no one sinless so God came to earth as a human, living a sinless life so that He could pay for our sins.

(Romans 5:8 NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

He died for us and He rose for us. See we were created as physical being. It is part of our triune nature. We will spend eternity in a physical body, which we will get after the resurrection on judgment day. Now if Jesus had just died and then gone to heaven as a spirit what would that mean to us? Northing, but since He was raised in a physical body it shows that God will also give us physical bodies. Then we will be able to spend eternity with Him enjoying all of creation the way it was suppose to be.

Jesus died for the sins you have committed. He also died for the sins all of us have committed. But those sins are only forgiven if we repent (admit we have sinned) and believe that Jesus did really die for us and then ask Him to forgive us.

Then life will be what it should be. No all the problems won't completely go away instantly. There is still evil in this world, but we will know that this life even if it last 80 or 90 years is nothing compared to what pleasure we will have for eternity. This changes a person's perspective on life. It changed my life. I never want to go back to the way things were.

I hope you will think about this and talk to God about it. Just talk to Him, He will hear you and He will help you if you want help. He loves you.

Ralph
